Elichai Fine Jewelry is proud to be able to feature select pieces from the exquisite private collection of the former Countess of Medici, the former First Lady of Nice, Ilene Medicin Kitahara. These pieces have a rich history and were collected over many years in exotic and magnificent places around the world.
Blue Enamel Cameo & Sapphire Ring
This ring was built by designer Hedy Martinelli in Rome, on a commission from Elton John. The Countess purchased it in Rome 15 years ago. The ring includes 118 cornflower blue sapphires.
Pagoda Enamel and Carved Jade Ring
This ring is made from a single carved piece of white jade and 18k gold, with the roof of the pagoda enameled elaborately. It was purchased from a premium jeweler in Bangkok over a decade ago. There are 28 pave’ 1mm diamonds and 5 pearls just under 3mm each.
Platinum, Ruby & Diamond Bracelet
This gorgeous vintage platinum bracelet was made in France. The allure and mystery of the piece is enhanced by the fact that it is not stamped at all, and though it is obviously of the highest level of craftsmanship, with design elements indicative of Van Cleef and Arpels, the maker did not leave his mark upon this masterpiece. It includes an extravagant 20 plus carats of fine white diamonds, and the center is of matched rubies.
Enamel Parasol Ring (SALE PENDING)
This amazing ring is from India’s premier jewelry house, Amrapali, in Jaipur. 22 Karat gold is ornamented with beautiful green enameling and flawless turquoise inlay and 19 cabochon rubies. A true statement piece, the ring measures almost 50mm across.
Blackamoor (Moretto) Pendant
Nardi Venice is the jewelry house most connected with the Blackamoor or “Moretto” motif. Based on Shakespeare’s Othello, the Moor of Venice, this piece is symbolic of the wealth of Moorish merchants in Italy. It is the quintessential and unmistakable Venetian jewel. The Countess’ Blackamoor includes a 4mm pink sapphire cabochon, five 3mm turquoise, and five 3mm rubies. These pieces are typically carved from ebony and gold.
Additionally, the pendant is hung on a handmade 18k chain from Frances Klien in Beverly Hills, California.
22k Ruby & Enamel Ring
The center ruby in this ring measures over 23mm across, and includes two diamonds on the sides. It is beautifully enameled on the back and sides of the ring and is made of 22k gold.
Enamel, Diamond & Ruby Necklace
The five large rubies in this necklace each measure over 20mm by 14mm and are each surrounded by large diamonds. This is a very significant piece and is also an Amrapali jewel. It is made of 22k gold and is exquisitely enameled, using every part of the piece as a canvas for this piece of wearable art. It is amazingly versatile for such an elaborate piece and can be worn with the diamond side showing, or the enameled side, for a slightly more casual look.
Diamond Eagle Necklace
This necklace was bought at the Gem Palace in Jaipur. It measures 4inches long and is made of sterling silver and gold, and diamonds.
Tropical Garden Lights
This piece was made in several pieces and then artfully combined into its current design by Elichai. Set with exquisite emeralds, rubies, and yellow and white diamonds. It is a true masterpiece. The necklace is of luxurious diamond studded red velvet.
Platinum Travel Ring
This ring was a piece that the countess wore when traveling. The center stone is a simulant, imitating a yellow diamond. It is a replica of a ring she had which featured a heart shaped yellow diamond. Though the center stone is not real, the ring itself is platinum, with excellent hand engraving, and diamond accents.
